Color fastness to perspiration (Acid + Alkaline) ISO 105-E04

Color fastness to perspiration (Acid + Alkaline) ISO 105-E04

Perspiration – The human body’s sweat is a complicated mixture that contains a lot of salts. It can be either acidic or alkaline, depending on the individual’s metabolism. The solution created by mimicking acid and alkaline sweat is the basis for testing color fastness to perspiration. Color fastness

The color fastness to perspiration test is used to evaluate how resistant certain types of textile color are to sweat. Acidic and alkaline sweat must have a minimum level 3–4 color fastness (color change and staining). This criterion does not apply to white goods, goods that aren’t printed or dyed, furniture textiles, drapes, or other textiles of a similar nature meant for interior design. However, fabrics that are both light in color (standard depth <1/12) and composed of silk or blends containing more than 20% silk are permitted to have a level of 3. This type of examination is specifically suitable for athletic apparel and long dresses that are worn on occasion. Sweat tests are also performed on regular clothing. Data color (CMC)

  • Equipment:
  1. Chemical for the alkaline solution- see perspiration of solutions
  2. Oven maintain at (37±2)̊®c
  3. Grey scale
  4. Color matching cabinet
  5. Glass plate or Acrylic resin plates
  6. Ph meter
  7. Distilled water grade-3
  8. 2Measuring jugs holding at least 1 liter.

  • Preparation of solutions (Alkaline)
  1. 5g L-histidine monohydrochloride monohydrate
  2. 5g of sodium chloride
  3. 2g of sodium dihydrogen ortho phosphate dehydrate.

  • Preparation of solutions (Alkaline)
  1. 5 of L-histidine monohydrochloride monohydrate
  2. 5g of sodium chloride
  3. 5g of disodium hydrogen ortho phosphate dodecahydrate or 2.5g disodium hydrogen ortho phosphate dehydrate

Working procedure:

  • Wet in distilled water at room temperature & it will suck water
  • Place it in acrylic resin plates & put the weight on the plates.
  • Keep it on oven & keep room temperature at ((37±2)̊®c for 4 hours.
  • Open the specimen & dry it in the air hot exceeding 60®c
  • Change in color is assessed with the help of grey scales.

Note:

0.1 mol/solution hydroxide solution (NaOH) -4.0g NaOH per litre distilled water . ( The solution brought to ph 8 ) .
