From March 16, 2020 through March 17, 2021, the Mujib Year is observed. To commemorate the centennial of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth, the Bangladeshi government declared Mujib Year. On March 17, the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched the year-long program. UNESCO has also stated that Mujib Year would be celebrated in collaboration with the Bangladeshi government. This UNESCO statement opens the way for Mujib Year to be celebrated all over the world. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born at Tungipara village, Gopalganj district, to an aristocratic Muslim family. He is known as Bangabandhu, and he is Bangladesh’s founding father. Under his competent leadership, Bangladesh gained independence. Mujib’s stand against dogma and oppression can, in reality, be ideal. As a result, the main goal of commemorating Mujib’s year is to introduce the country’s and the world’s youth to this great leader’s dramatic life and principles. Clearly, commemorating Mujib Year has resulted in numerous good improvements in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government launched a number of development projects as part of the celebrations. These include the electrification of all Bangladeshi villages, the eradication of poverty, the expansion of ICT access, and so on. In the Mujib year, plans were made to install a sculpture of Bangabandhu at the Madame Tussauds Museum in London and at the UN Headquarters. in New York. Throughout the year, several groups held numerous events and activities to commemorate the year of Mujib, honoring Bangabandhu’s life and accomplishments.
