A metro rail is a specially designed high speed rail which runs in metropolitan cities. Such rail was introduced so that busy people can move from one place to another quickly avoiding traffic jam. Dhaka Metro Rail is a milestone in the communication system in Bangladesh. It is not a dream today but a visible reality today. The 20.1 km metro rail runs from Uttara to Motijheel. 24 trains on both sides can carry 60000 passengers per hour and 500.000 a day. There are six coaches in each train. Each train can carry 2308 passengers. It takes 40 minutes to reach Motijheel from Uttara. It has stations at 16 points. At present, it is in full operation.
It has started transporting passengers from Uttara to Agargaon section. The city dwellers can now smoothly and quickly move from Uttara to Agargaon. It now saves thousands of hours of the city dwellers that they lose in traffic jams. They are able to reach their working place smoothly. They are able to travel at a very low cost and in a very short time. The rail has ensured a safe and comfortable journey for the dwellers. Besides it has made people free from the sufferings of traffic jam and it also helps the reduction of air pollution. People living outside the city are also benefited greatly after the completion of the project. They are able to come to the city timely on important purposes and are able to return to their respective places wasting no time. This dream project has transformed the capital city into a cosmopolitan one and the world is now acquainted with a new Bangladesh

একটি মেট্রো রেল একটি বিশেষভাবে ডিজাইন করা উচ্চ গতির রেল যা মেট্রোপলিটন শহরগুলিতে চলে। ব্যস্ত মানুষ যাতে যানজট এড়িয়ে দ্রুত এক স্থান থেকে অন্য স্থানে যেতে পারে সেজন্য এ ধরনের রেল চালু করা হয়েছে। ঢাকা মেট্রো রেল বাংলাদেশের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থায় একটি মাইলফলক। এটা আজকের স্বপ্ন নয়, দৃশ্যমান বাস্তবতা। 20.1 কিলোমিটার মেট্রোরেল উত্তরা থেকে মতিঝিল পর্যন্ত চলে। উভয় দিকে 24টি ট্রেন প্রতি ঘন্টায় 60000 এবং দিনে 500.000 যাত্রী বহন করতে পারে। প্রতিটি ট্রেনে ছয়টি করে বগি রয়েছে। প্রতিটি ট্রেন 2308 জন যাত্রী বহন করতে পারে। উত্তরা থেকে মতিঝিল যেতে সময় লাগে ৪০ মিনিট। এটির 16 পয়েন্টে স্টেশন রয়েছে। বর্তমানে, এটি সম্পূর্ণরূপে চালু আছে।
এটি উত্তরা থেকে আগারগাঁও সেকশনে যাত্রী পরিবহন শুরু করেছে। নগরবাসী এখন সহজে ও দ্রুত উত্তরা থেকে আগারগাঁও যেতে পারবে। এটি এখন নগরবাসীর হাজার হাজার ঘন্টা বাঁচায় যা তারা যানজটে হারায়। তারা স্বচ্ছন্দে তাদের কর্মস্থলে পৌঁছাতে সক্ষম হয়। তারা খুব কম খরচে এবং খুব কম সময়ে ভ্রমণ করতে সক্ষম। রেল বাসিন্দাদের জন্য নিরাপদ এবং আরামদায়ক যাত্রা নিশ্চিত করেছে। পাশাপাশি এটি জনগণকে যানজটের ভোগান্তি থেকে মুক্ত করেছে এবং বায়ু দূষণ কমাতেও সহায়তা করছে। প্রকল্পটি শেষ হওয়ার পর শহরের বাইরে বসবাসকারী লোকজনও ব্যাপকভাবে উপকৃত হবেন। তারা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কাজে সময়মতো শহরে আসতে সক্ষম হয় এবং সময় নষ্ট না করে তাদের নিজ নিজ জায়গায় ফিরে যেতে সক্ষম হয়। এই স্বপ্নের প্রকল্প রাজধানী শহরকে একটি মহাজাগতিক শহরে রূপান্তরিত করেছে এবং বিশ্ব এখন একটি নতুন বাংলাদেশের সাথে পরিচিত হয়েছে।
